Massoud Came To Dinner…

Last night I met “Massoud”. He is the fellow that Joseph and Dianna have spoken about and the man who took it upon himself to provide protection and assistance for Dianna while Joseph was away a few weeks ago.

Massoud came over for dinner. He wanted to meet me and said he would “take charge of” teaching me Arabic. Massoud is a very gregarious fellow, highly intelligent, and possesses of all the hospitality that seems to be innate for the people here. He is 22 and working on getting everything in order to go to medical school in England.

I wish you could meet him. You would love him too. I think the thing that draws me to him is that he possesses the same openness and curiosity that “Ishmael” has. He is not afraid of talking and asking questions about spiritual matters. Massoud is a man of peace. Massoud has offered to take me to “many places” to learn more about his country. I am very excited about this opportunity. By the way, He says to say HI!

After dinner we went back to the old house and unloaded all the books, fixed the hammer drill that was being contentious and are currently in the middle of hanging shelves. No easy task here. Plaster over concrete over cinder block walls. Have to hammer drill every hole, insert special anchors etc. Massoud has labeled me “Boss”.

After we finished He took us to meet his father who is the security chief at the hospital. What an incredibly kind and gracious man. I can see where Massoud learned the art of hospitality. Both men have to be the most warm and generous men I have ever met. They were so in-tuned to my needs that right away even though I am stranger, I felt welcome and totally at ease in such a foreign place. After chatting for a few moments, they invited us across the street and bought us a big glass of carrot juice and then took Eva (our youngest granddaughter) to the shop next door and bought her a big bag of chocolates.

Anyway back to the shelves… we are about half finished right now. Afterward, we will only have ten thousand books to place on them.

I can’t wait to spend more time with Massoud. I hope we see each other tomorrow. I think he enjoys my company as much as I enjoy his. Gotta go. Blessings to you and everyone back home. Thank everyone for their prayers.

“May the LORD bless you and take care of you; May the LORD be kind and gracious to you; May the LORD look on you with favor and give you peace” (Numbers 6: 24-26).
