Advent 2013: New Wine

God Weaving the Threads of Our Lives into the Tapestry of His Purpose

Advent 2013: New Wine

No one uses a piece of new cloth to patch up an old coat, because the new patch will shrink and tear off some of the old cloth, making an even bigger hole. Nor does anyone pour new wine into used wineskins, because the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins will be ruined. Instead, new wine must be poured into fresh wineskins” (Mark 2: 21-22).

Yesterday was the first day of Advent and on this momentous day, my friend realized her need of God and said, “Come Lord Jesus, Come”.

At that moment, she became a living testimony of Advent. The word Advent is derived from the Latin word meaning coming. The Lord coming and for her, He did. Christ has come. The living Christ, Messiah joined His life with hers, and she was made anew. Old things, sin and death passed away and she became brand new.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Indeed, God himself, the new wine has been poured into my friend, and she has become new. The old has passed away and she has been reborn. And to this I pray, Come Lord Christ Come.
