Cave Dwelling

Cave Dwelling

Hello, it’s been awhile.  Not much, how bout you?  Its been such a long time and I really do miss your smile…

As it seems, I am back from the dead.   Well, not exactly dead, as I have been breathing Him in and out… taking a rest.  You know that place you crawl into to escape the heat… just to lay for a spell, on the cool rock floor in the back of a cave… and you wait.

Crazy, I know, but we all go there sometime.  I was not alone.  Other Cave-Dwellers were there, seeking Him anew in the quiet darkness without distraction (1 Samuel 24).  No it wasn’t hiding, rather living from every word in the Beatitudes.  We were spiritually poor, humbled and weak.  Christ our Messiah knew we would go to the cave. In fact,  He called us ‘Blessed’ and we are.

Acts 3:26  God has brought his servant back to life and has sent him to you first. God did this to bless you by turning every one of you from your evil ways.”

Adullam-Cave-interior_fjenkins 090211Messiah came to bless us with assets of His heavenly kingdom.   We need only ask and we did… so there we were in the cave.  And do you know what I found?  Even in the cave there are trials afflictions, troubles difficulties, provocations, solicitation, and persecutions.  David found this to be true as well.  For there he was with his mighty men hanging in the cave of Adullam, lo and behold who walks in… No other but Saul, David’s nemesis.

Do you have a nemesis in your life?   Do you have an opponent; a rival; or task for which you cannot best, achieve, overcome, or conquer?  Oh, we try…we are conditioned to try…

“Give it your best shot”

“If first you don’t succeed, try and try again”

“Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps”

“God helps those, who help themselves”

“Don’t wish it were easier. Wish you were better”

“No one ever drowned in sweat.”

But what if we fail or better yet, when we fail and experience “Waterloo”.  Again, Christ knew.  He doesn’t brow beat us, scold or condemn, but tenderly… lovingly encourages, “when you are, God is”.

Today, you and I need to know, those two, most powerful words…God is.  God is!  So, count it all joy (James 1:2) because Christ is on the throne, God is.

James  1:12  Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Isaiah 55:1  “Listen! Whoever is thirsty, come to the water! Whoever has no money can come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk. You don’t have to pay; its free!

Isaiah 43:2  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
