Dark of Night

Blue_Moon_Night_Wallpaper_JxHyOh, the dark of night!

Can’t sleep, fear overtakes…Da dum, da dum, da dum, thunders within. Can’t breathe, tears flow in my mouth, panicked and gasping like a fish out of water. I am a fish out of water… help, help me…

Psalms 27:1  The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

This psalm was written by a man who was, at the moment, in the midst of spiritual conflict, and yet holds a steady front against his troubles, by boldly asserting, “Whom shall we fear?

If God is who He says He is (omniscient)… and He is; And if God can do what He says He can do (omnipotent); and He does… and if God is everywhere (omnipresent); and He is… Whom shall we fear?

Resting in the Lord is only found by looking outside of one’s own self. We have this morbid habit of self-examination, which needs to be shunned. We tear ourselves into tiny bits and pieces, without profit, and to every sort of harm. We scour the inside of our own mind, seeking an answer that will never be there. The Lord is the one to look at and to, not ourselves.

The Apostle John, inspired by the spirit of God, in the twilight of long day and anticipating his homecoming to Christ, exhorts us to “Abide”.

1 John 2:24 says, “Let that therefore abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, you also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.”

Three little words; “abide,” “remain,” and “continue”, all with the same in the meaning, provide insight. The repetition alone is sufficient to warrant our attention. What, then, is the message? Again, our focus and attention is to be on our living, loving God; Jesus in flesh. He suffered as we suffer. He experienced overwhelming emotion.

How did Christ cope? He focused on the Father. Abiding was as food to Him. He knew that to abide was life.

So then, why not turn all that we are and all that we know into communing with Him, which is the essence of abiding.

Let’s respond to every act of quickening; every whisper of love by His voice. It is the indwelling, the comforting, the instruction, the anointing and remaining in God.

Let’s abide in Love; Let’s abide in Forgiveness; Let’s abide in Hope.

Let’s abide and not fear because if God is who He says He is (omniscient)… and He is; And if God can do what He says He can do (omnipotent); and He does… and if God is everywhere (omnipresent); and He is… Whom shall we fear and who else you gonna talk too?
