I Love Psalm 90

I Love Psalm 90

“I love Psalm 90: 1-2.

Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God”. Psalms 90: 1-2

If you have ever been displaced… unwanted… without home or habitation… you know loneliness. You know emptiness. You know despair. You know…

But this verse gives a promise. It tells us God can be our home… our dwelling place… our shelter… our sanctuary… our refuge…our tabernacle… a comfort in trials and tribulation…

God sees our pain, our wretched condition and He loves us. We think we are alone and lost to all but this is not true. God is!

God loves us. God loves you and me. The God of creation, who created hills and mountains, large and small, wants us to dwell with Him, to give us a home in Him. “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home” Psalms 68: 5-6a.

God is a home. Claim this promise. It is for you. God is from everlasting to everlasting… for all generations and yet, it is for you. God is.

This post is not playful or directly about the book I am reading… eating… digesting.

This post is for those who are hurting and in need. How often this condition fits us all! People need to know there is care and love already given.

Moses wrote Psalms 90. Moses also knew how to pray. He taught the people of his generation, the people of Israel to pray. People of prayer see the needs of others and petition the creator of the universe to intervene.

Moses was an intercessor. Oh, that we would become a people of prayer… and that God would open our eyes to others… Many times, God puts us in situations in which we can stand in the gap and pray. For those who are already intercessors, they know the battle that ever looms before them. They put on their armor and stand. However as God grows us, and we begin to care and pray for others, we find out right away, it is not comfortable and the situation can quickly implode, challenging us to grow ever more dependent on God to help us through. We are unable to do God’s task in our own strength and when we try, we fail. Only God can do God tasks. We need to give in, give up and rest totally in Him… only then, can we become a conduit of His love, grace, peace, joy, and patience.

Father, we pray for these dear ones who you are holding in your large and capable hands… We know of your love. We know that you are our home, from generation to generation.

Thank you for what you are going to do. We praise you as Moses did in Psalms 90. Again, thank you holy God that you are from everlasting to everlasting. Amen.
