In Between

God Weaving the Threads of Our Lives into the Tapestry of His Purpose

In Between

Jerusalem_photo1My spouse and I moved recently. It wasn’t an easy move, such as across town or to another state in the US, but to another country…the Middle East, Israel no less. God called. We answered. Possessions given away, lent out, or stored. Beloved pets now in the hands of new people. All gone. With suitcases in hand, we left …bye, bye.
We have lived overseas before and moved much in our lives together, so I thought no big deal…life will be complicated at first, but transition will come, again. God is with us. He is our all in all, after all.
Today, my today seemed very dim while snuggled tightly in the blankets. And amidst much sighing and lamenting, I wondered will I allow Y’eshua to capture my heart and make me alive in Him. Wrestling myself out of the bed, the comfort of God came in a parable. BTW, its good to remind ourselves that God’s comfort is always better than a blanket. Blankets are false comfort. They don’t love you back.
Matthew 14:22-33 is truly an incredible story. I have many questions I would love answered, but this story has spoken powerfully to me over the years. Today as we were reading, discussing, analyzing and meditating on it, God provided a wonderful commentary that touched me anew. Here are some excerpts written by Jim Branch, in 2005 compiled in a prayer guide without a title. I hope his words will touch you as they touched me and moreover, help you live today expectant for Y’eshua’s return.

“There is one particular aspect of [Matthew 14:22-33] this story that has been a wonderful source of reflection for me lately. It involves that sacred space that Jesus invites Simon Peter to step out into. It is the jesus-walking-on-the-waterspace between…between the boat and Jesus…between letting go and taking hold of…between the old and familiar and the new and unknown…between control and agenda and dependence and detachment. It is a space that is both completely terrifying and unbelievably exciting. It is the space before your answer has come or your problem has been fixed. It is the space where you must trust the heart of God alone for your life. It is the space of genuine transformation.”

Interesting enough, Mr. Branch leaves you there, hanging without a solution, a fix, or restitution, which at first blush was very frustrating and yet, incredibly wise. For God is our solution, our fix, our restitution. Only Y’eshua can transform.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

2Corinthians 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

So, I too, will follow suit and leave Y’eshua to you.

Holy Father and our Y’eshua, Messiah, Lord of Lords, our One and Only, please transform us, selfish creatures that we can be. Make us holy new in You. Help us live expectantly awaiting your return.
