Jerusalem Dreaming…

Jerusalem Dreaming…

For the last two weeks, I have been in Israel, to pray. That pretty much sums it up…. I went just to pray, but while there, the strangest thing happened. I had a dream….

In this dream, I was working with expectant, pregnant families in the hospital, which is not unusual and as a matter of fact, quite normal, really. While chatting with the NICU nurses, they told me about a family who was in crisis, but the more we talked, the more the story became unusual and rather macabre. Evidently, there was a pregnant mother who had been poisoned and due to her deteriorating health, she had delivered an early, very ill baby. Moreover, the poison had unfortunately perfused through her placenta causing catastrophic organ damage in her neonate. While we were discussing this, the father of the infant came into the room carrying this newborn. I was shocked and quite upset that he had moved the baby from the NICU environment where the baby was receiving care. And then, this is where the dream became odd…
The father who had initially been cradling the infant lovingly in his arms, began spinning and throwing this very ill baby up into the air. And just when I thought the baby would hit the floor, he would catch the baby in his arms. He spun the baby’s body this way and that way, behind his back, all the while, just barely catching it, inches from the floor. Horrified by the father’s abusive behavior and about to take the child, someone grabbed my forearm tightly. With a start, I quickly looked away from the baby and father and noticed an intravenous needle had been inserted into my arm. Someone then said, “This baby needs a blood transfusion right away. You are a perfect match”. Bright red blood began to flow freely and generously out of my vein and into a blood bag. As I watched the blood filling up the bag, I realized that this assessment was truth. I knew in my heart of hearts, that the blood indwelling my body was the only treatment that would ensure survival. It was an emergency and the life-giving properties of blood was the only way. And then, I woke up.

As my eyes opened, I knew immediately the meaning of this dream.
The baby in my dream represents the many people groups who live and work in Jerusalem; this tumultuous city.

The father of the infant was none other than the Father of Lies who spends much time spinning the baby i.e. escalating emotions this way and that. He is full of deceptions and maturations that many people listen and respond to.

The blood in my arm is the blood of the Lamb that covers and indwells all those who choose to believe in and have relationship with Christ Jesus. Christ, God sent from heaven in bodily form to the world to die in our place as the atoning sacrifice to bridge the gap between holy God and sinful man.

Please join me in praying for Jerusalemites. Pray that they will realize they’re need for the Savior, Christ the Lord; God in flesh, (John 1: 14), who is the way, the truth and the life and said “Without me, no one can go to the Father” John 14: 6.

Christ is the only way for true Shalom of the heart for Jerusalemites.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9: 37-38).
