Thanksgiving in Heaven

Thanksgiving in Heaven

God put a thought on my heart and wanted me to share it with you as a holiday blessing and a prayer. As you make ready your feast of thanksgiving, think on these things…

God tells us about a feast that Christ is, even now, preparing for us in the New Jerusalem. Isaiah 25: 6-9 says, “On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all people’s a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all people’s, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

In the book of Isaiah it also says that at the end of all things, God will create a New Heaven and New Earth in which His holy city New Jerusalem will be created and those who commit themselves to Him, will tabernacle-dwell-abide-live with him forever, Is 65: 17-25. The city, New Jerusalem will have no equal. Why? It is unique because God will dwell there. “And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb” Rev 21:23.

And God… Jesus… the Lamb… the Holy One of Israel… the Lord of Hosts… will be the Master Chef at this feast and we have been invited. Wow! It’s hard to believe, I know… but we have been invited to the table of Emanuel- ‘the With Us’ God.

Truly, these are “good tidings of great joy…for all people” Luke 2:10. For Jesus has invited all people everywhere to His feast. But this feast is not just any feast. It is a feast of extravagance…lavishly spread…sparing no expense. We are told that it is a feast of the abundant provisions of His divine mercy. He says, “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant” Isaiah 55: 1-4.

We can be satisfied. God longs to “satisfy us with His fat and rich food”, Psalms 65:5… “Refreshing us with rich foods” from His divine table, Psalms 36:8.

Are you empty… longing…searching for food that will satisfy? Come to Christ’s table eat and be satisfied. Lev 26: 11-12 says, He desires to tabernacle-dwell-abide-live with you… to walk with you. He desires to be your God and you, His people. Come… the table is set…Come and eat and be satisfied.
