Advent: Looking For True Peace

God Weaving the Threads of Our Lives into the Tapestry of His Purpose

Advent: Looking For True Peace

This week, week 2, of Advent  we light the candle of peace. In honor of this week, God brought an early, morning visitor. While drinking coffee, and sleepily staring out our window at the misty meadow engulfed in fogginess, I noticed a dove. A dove! He sat in a nearby tree all puffed up, trying to stay warm in the cold. It sat looking at me with his big, round eyes as if to say, “I bring you news of great joy that will be for all people…”

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!” Luke 2:10;14.
A.W. Tozer has a good word that links between Love and Peace this week as we look forward expectantly…

The man who has struggled to purify himself and has had nothing but repeated failures, will experience real relief when he stops tinkering with his soul and looks away to the perfect One. While he looks at Christ, the very things he has so long been trying to do will be getting done within him. It will be God working in him to will and to do (The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer).

True peace at Advent is a deep, inner stillness and wholeness (Shalom) found not in the absence of worldly chaos but within it, through faith in Jesus, the “Prince of Peace,” who offers reconciliation with God and hope for a restored world, guarding hearts against anxiety as we wait and prepare for His coming. It’s about trusting God’s presence amid busyness, cultivating quiet reflection, and finding courage to love and forgive, even when life is difficult.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:7)

Thank you God for sending the Dove of Peace, Jesus Christ, our Lord into the world. Bring You’re eternal peace into our hearts through Your death on the cross, transforming us into Your righteousness. Amen
